I hadn’t planned to be a pastor. As a kid growing up in San Diego, my big plan was to be an architect and build buildings. I’m a certified draftsman and have an Associate Degree in Construction Technologies. But while drawing buildings I was also volunteering with the teenagers at our church, teaching Sunday school, leading the midweek program, and coaching a group of guys. I was spending all my time (and resources) introducing teenagers to Jesus. Eventually I realized I’d never be content building buildings –I needed to focus on building God’s family and his Kingdom. It took several years, but I eventually transitioned from volunteer, to bi-vocational, and then to full-time work in the church.
In 2007 I was serving a church in Reno, Nevada and Good News was looking for a lead pastor. A mutual friend connected us and, quite to my surprise, they invited me to be their pastor. In December of that year, my family and I moved to Broomfield, and we absolutely love it here. And I love helping people connect with God -not just know about him but actually know him.
I’m married to my high school sweet-heart, Heather. We have three grown kids, some of whom are married and have kids of their own.
When we moved to Broomfield, we bought the mother of all fixer-uppers, so I still get to use my construction skills. I love a good road trip and specifically go looking for strange, off-beat road-side attractions. I have a thing for old Jeeps -I’ve got two: a ‘73 Gladiator and a ‘82 CJ-7. And, I must admit, I’m a chocoholic.
I’m an ordained minister -no, I didn’t buy it off the internet for 3 easy installments of $99. I have a Bachelor Degree in Ministry Leadership from Bethel University, a Master of Divinity from Gateway Theological Seminary, and am currently working on a Doctorate of Ministry from Talbot Theological Seminary.
Now you know a little bit about me –I look forward to getting to know you and helping you grow in your relationship with Jesus.
