Six years before joining the team at Good News, my husband and I were trying to find a church that was a good fit for us as a couple. One church that we attended had a thriving Children’s Ministry. I looked at my husband one Sunday and said, “That’s what I need to be doing, Children’s Ministry. I have to find out what I need to do to that.” While it took longer than I planned, here I am, and I couldn’t be more thankful! I know that God used those six years to make me the person that this Children’s Ministry needed me to be today.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Child and Adolescent Development in 2012. I worked for 11 years, mostly in education, both in Christian and corporate environments. My roles have included teaching, managing health and safety, curriculum implementation, training and development, behavioral and developmental guidance plans, and most importantly loving and caring for both children and their families.
I am incredibly passionate about child and adolescent development, and I believe in approaching everything that we do with them intentionally and purposefully. Childhood is both spiritually and developmentally the perfect window of time to learn about and form a relationship with Jesus. I am so thankful that I get to be an integral part in helping that relationship form and grow.
I was raised in a home where we didn’t attend church every week, but Jesus was woven into every aspect of our lives. Thanks to my mother’s intentional effort I’ve had the blessing of living a life with a strong faith and relationship with Christ. In 2014 I married my husband, Cody. We have two wonderful little boys, Coen and Liam. Being a mother is the greatest joy I have ever known. In those rare moments of free time I love to do yoga (the power workout kind), read, and spend time surrounded by pine trees.
Please feel free to reach out or stop me in the hallway on Sunday, I look forward to meeting you!
