Why Does It Matter If The Tomb Was Empty?

When I say, "He has risen," you say, "He has risen indeed." It's a greeting used at Easter for the past 2,000 years. But it beggs the question, why's it matter if Jesus rose again? Why's it matter if the tomb was empty? And, why'd Jesus do it?
