Way back when I was a kid, growing up in San Diego, I made the commitment to follow Jesus –that was the best decision I ever made! Now I find myself living in North Denver, leading a church. I’m not quite sure exactly how I got here… but I do know that I want to make an impact in this corner of the world by simply doing three things: 1) Love God, 2) Love Others, and 3) Serve the World!
As a kid, I had a plan to be an architect. I’m a certified draftsman and have an Associates of Science in Construction Technologies. But while I was in college and drawing buildings I was also volunteering in the Student Ministries at our church, teaching Sunday school, leading the midweek program, and discipling a group of guys. I was spending all my time (and money) hooking teenagers up with Jesus and teaching them how to follow Jesus. Eventually I realized I’d never be content just building buildings –I needed to focus on building God’s Kingdom. Over the next couple of years I transitioned from volunteering, to bi-vocational ministry, and eventually to serving in ministry full time.
In 2007 Good News church was looking for a lead pastor and I was serving at a church in Reno, Nevada. Because of a mutual friend I started talking with Good News about their search for a pastor, but to be very honest, I had not expected the conversation to go anywhere –I was wrong. In December of that same year, my wife, kids, and I moved to North Denver and absolutely love it here! That move has proven to be an excellent decision for me, my family, and the church.
Back in 1994 I married my high school sweet-heart, Heather. We have 3 kids: Elijah, Savannah, and Isaiah. Our family has a little pop-up-tent-trailer that we enjoy taking up to the mountains to go camping. I am constantly taking on projects where I get to work with tools (remodeling on the house, landscaping, and building furniture). I have a thing for Jeeps –I own 2 old ones that I’m constantly working on (a 1973 Gladiator and a 1982 CJ-7). And, I must admit, I am a chocoholic –I love chocolate!
I have been an ordained minister since 2007 (and no, I didn’t buy it on the internet for 3 easy instalments of $99). I have a BA in Ministry Leadership from Bethel University, a Masters of Divinity from Gateway Theological Seminary, and am currently working to earn a Doctorate of Ministry from Talbot Theological Seminary.
Now you know a little bit about me –I look forward to getting to know you and helping you grow in your relationship with Jesus.
